Kurzgesagt is a German word (Germans have a special word for everything) that means “In a nutshell” or “in short.”
This was news to me, but the moment I heard it I thought “That would be a great name for my blog,” so here we are.
If you’re reading this then you already subscribe to this substack or you got linked here by accident. Regardless, you probably already know a little about me, but here are a few things you should know if you’re planning on sticking around:
My name is Scott Kurtz and I’ve been a professional cartoonist since 2000.
I was one of the early pioneers of the Webcomics movement, which was pretty cool at the time but not so much it seems anymore.
I created the daily online comic strip PvP and it ran from 1998 to around 2018 at which point things got dicey. But I hung on for a couple of years longer. The strip is currently on hiatus.
I’ve done a bunch of other stuff, including podcasts, D&D liveplays, animation, and more.
I am currently working in traditional publishing, focusing on kid-lit and middle-grade graphic novels. And I’m loving it.
You can find most of my online work at www.toonhoundstudios.com.
If you already subscribe, thank you. I get to do what I love for a living because you seem to enjoy my work. I am forever in your debt.
If you’re not subscribed yet, doing so means you’ll be able to keep up with everything going on with me. In 2025, I plan to be posting a lot more, keeping you apprised of my progress on various projects and appearances, and just sharing my thoughts in general.
Right now, this blog is free to read. If I ever create anything we both agree is worthy of placing behind a paywall, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, the best way you can support me is by doing the following:
Like, subscribe and interact with my Youtube channel.
Let other people know about my work if you like it.
Thanks!
Kurlever name. Hoping for more Scott around these substack parts!
Merry Christmas!
We would love an update over on the Fallen Veil Kickstarter.
